The usa gymnastics has been part of the modern olympics since 1896. In recent years, the television camera has provided spectators with close-up views of the us gymnastics, helping to make this one of the most popular olmpic sports. With what looks like no effort, the gymnasts leap, twirl and spin through the air, maintaining perfect balance and muscular control.

Team usa gymnastics compete both as a team and as individuals. To determine the team championship, the scores of each country's five best gymnasts are added together after each event with the team having the highest total score at the end of all events winning gold. Individuals of the usa gymnastics also compete for medals both in single events and all-around championship.

Like usa swimming, the usa gymnastics are judged on their technical accomplishments, with the judges awarding between one and ten points in each event. All the judges' scores are then averaged for the final score.
