Announcing the olympic games, the past and present winter and summer olympics
Almost three thousand years ago in Athens, Greece, olympic athletes tested their skills and talents in organized sport events. Every four years men would travel to the arena at Olympia to run, jump, box, wrestle or race their chariots. During the olympic games, thousands of people watched and cheered for the olympic athletes. The winners were the strongest, the fastest and the bravest of their time.
Today, all over the world, people are getting ready for the modern olympic games. Everywhere olympic athletes are practicing for the summer games and winter games. Runners are running...jumpers are jumping...throwers are throwing....skiers are skiing...etc. However, the olmpics involve more than just the athletes. There are many skilled workers creating flags, basketballs, hockey pucks, skis, ice skates, helmets, rackets an so forth.
During the olympic games, the olympic flag waves proudly over the stadium. The flag is composed of five rings: blue, yellow, black, green and red. Each ring represents a region of the world...Europe, Asia, Australia, the Americas and Africa. The interlocking of the rings on the olympic flag symbolizes the friendship of the olympic games.
